FoAEA Budget Meeting Summary
Thursday, the FoAEA board had our first meeting of the 2015-16 school year. The main
agenda topic for the meeting was to approve the budget for this year. Last year was a big growth year
for AEA and was also a big unknown for us in FoAEA how much money we would be able to raise. Our budget
for last year scaled with the school growth to $200,000 but we came in approximately $44,000 short and
had to dip into our reserves. Fortunately, the last few years of fundraising have been good and
even after last year we still have $135,000 in reserves.

a complete breakdown of last year's budgeted and actual earnings and expenses. If you have any questions,
please e-mail the Board President.
FoAEA is committed to the programs we fund through your
donations. We are also committed to being financially responsible so while last year's budget was more
aspirational, the board agreed that this year's budget would be more conservative at $150,000.
We will be working with the school to ensure that all of the programs we fund will remain
but there will be a different balance between how much FoAEA funds for each these programs vs. what the school
Annual Donation Drive
The FoAEA annual donation drive is just kicking off for the 2015-16 school year. Our goal for this year is
to raise approximately $55,000 during this drive and we've already raised over $2,000.
We encourage families to donate $1/day per student they have
in the school. You can make a one time donation or a monthly donation of any amount at
foaea.org/donate or just click on the link below. The students of AEA
appreciate all of your support.
Free Money for Friends
In this world there are very few things that are free money but using the
foaea.org/amazon link to go to Amazon.com is exactly that. For every
purchase you make after usingt his link FoAEA gets up to 8%/ of the money back as a referral fee. Yes, 8%.
Last year we made $6,700 from this program, which is $6,700 we don't need to fundraise!!!
Please use this link every time you go to Amazon.com. Give it to your parents, your friends, your bothers and
sisters, even random people on the street. If you own a small business, please consider buying through this
link so that your business can help support AEA.
BBQ Thank Yous
Thanks to everyone for all the hard work in making this event a success for our community!
Everyone did a great job! The food (Kai), entertainment (Mathias/Alberts), drinks (Terri),
smoothies (Robeks), uniform sales (Isabelle), info booth (Rebecca and Joel), and all volunteers
(you know who you are) pulled it off wonderfully.
A special thank you to Sandy and Lissa for organizing the event and to Kai of
Food For Thoughts Cafe
(and also the FoAEA Board Treasurer) for the enormous amount of time he spent making and
cooking the sausages at the back to school BBQ.
Updated Mailing Lists
The school has provided FoAEA with updated e-mail lists for the elementary and middle schools.
Please let us know if you do not want to be included in these e-mails and we will remove you from the
list. For anybody who did not receive the previous newsletters this year, you can get a copy of the
